At first glance, my work presents vibrant characters that reflect my fun childhood in the 1960’s. They have commonalities that despite their color, background, or identity creates a kind of unity among them. Their shirts hint at the stripes of our country’s flag, they share identical features and clothing. A closer look will reveal questionable expression in the faces and positioning of each character. Anxiety reflects off these similar faces. Silent screams and distorted existence echo the harsh reality that even with such diversity lending an air of unity, these characters stand painfully alone.
I put my face on
I am not you
You are not me
I am they
